Mr. Sudip Pathak

Mr. Sudip Pathak is the Honorable Commissioner of National Human Rights Commission of Nepal. This is the second time he has been serving at NHRC. Currently, in the Commission he is assigned as a focal Commissioner to oversee the Protection and Promotion of the Right of the Migrant Workers, Transitional Justice, Rights to Environment and Development, Custody and Detention Center Monitoring and facilitate and converse with the Government of Nepal. He was also a part of government led high level task force for custodial reform 2007 in Nepal. He was previously devoted activist of peace movement and was also the member of government led human rights action plan committee in 2001. Mr. Pathak also extensively contributed as a conflict resolution facilitator for peace negotiations in Nepal (1998-2005). Moreover, he also served as a human rights defender through the Human Rights Organization, Nepal in 1983. The Honorable Commissioner has been honored with the “Suprabal Janasewa Shree” by the Rt. Honorable President of Nepal, Bidhya Devi Bhandari. In addition, he was also awarded the “Non- violence and Peace Award” by the Non- Violence Coordination Committee, Nepal, respecting the work for the Non- Violence and Peace. His contribution as a lawyer and human rights defender is valued.
